Baha Lake/ Baho Chat

 Baha Lake or Baho Chat  It is very beautiful and a huge lake at a height of 11,890 feet above sea level, it is deep green and very cold with grass, trees and huge stone at the end and starting around it. The Baha Lake is located in a valley called Ghizer in Gilgit Baltistan-Pakistan, more specifically it is in upper Ghizer after a village called Barset. After 1 to 1.5 hours drive you reach a meadow called #Langar.Langar is open with beautiful greenery of grass and small jungles and very fresh and freezing cold rivers filled with tasty fresh river trout. if you are planning to reach #Baha lake for camping of fishing purposes you need to park your vehicles at the end of langar meadows and start tracking upward, don't forget to keep necessary equipment like camping material, fishing roads, equipment for fire, you may find dry wood but keeping small gas cylinder is more nature friendly and never forget to get a Fishing license at Langar Fisheries check point. walk for at least 4 ...

   He is SARTAJ ALAM a local boy, a student and a farmer. the people of this area are so much hardworking, they study they work and the do many other works as daily routine. Domestic YAK of Northern Pakistan.

  this animal is known as YAK locally ZOGH . these are pet, people keep them for financial purposes,milk and meat. yaks live at high altitude very near to the glaciers at very low temperature because it is not possible for yaks to stay longer at any place with less water and high temperature,  this is the reason why this animal stays at the peaks of local mountainous areas for more than 8 months of the year and returns home during winter for better food and salt. people take care of their yaks in the mountains, they visit one by one every day , they carry salt stones for the yaks to feed them, they also carry different vaccines for effected yaks or as precautionary.  location: YOR ZHAGAH , Pingal, Gupis, GIlgit, Pakistan. image taken by JAVED NAGEEN .

Glaciers of Northern Pakistan

  In this picture the land visible between the mountains is not actually a land, this is a huge glacier cover by a carpet of small stones, I often use to visit this place, its very high approximately at 15,000 feet height. 4 to 5 quick steps then at this height make you fatigued and you  need to rest otherwise it becomes difficult to breath & your heart's luck duck becomes louder and you clearly feel it, its due to low availability of Oxygen i guess.        The Northerner Pakistan specially Gilgit Baltistan has a huge amount of fresh water reserves in the form of glaciers in the high Hindukush mountains . Above picture is one of those glaciers at the height of 15,000ft from sea level.  the location is 1st Rawat Goll & 2nd is Chaich Thurjall, Gupis, Ghier, Gilgit Baltistan Pakistan. Herbs of Mountains (Northern Pakistan), The Hindukush Ranges.

    This is image of a herb natively called  Kakol , this herb grows on same roots every year and its quantity increases its own seeds as well. this is very special herb for the people of northern Pakistan, when ever people go up to the high mountainous areas for different purposes and they get thirst and don't have any sources of water nearby then they search for this herb. they chew it if its hard any grown old and if its young and fresh people eat it its juicy full of sour water, thus the thirst of water is overcome and people manage to survive for long time without water and food. people use to bring it down to valleys for their families as a gift from mountains. this image is taken by  JAVED NAGEEN  in the mountains of Thurjall/SALEEMABAD Gupis , Ghizer , Gilgit Baltistan , Pakistan.  This is Ishpar ,  Known with same name in Ghizer and Chitral, Khowar language. Pet animals in Northern Pakistan.

        location Chaich  SALEEMABAD  , Gilgit , Northern Pakistan. Mubashir Artas, (we call him Chuchu mashter)  can be seen in the image with some of our pet Goats at the height of atleast 14,000 feet and it was back in August,2020 during the lockdowns of COVID-19.   People of Northern Pakistan keep pets mainly sheep, goats, yaks and cows, and also people of very high altitudes use to pet donkeys for labor purposes, like bringing from mountains, to make a huge stock for harsh winters which is hard for people to do on their own. these are some  images from  Thurjall/SALEEMABAD  Gupis Pakistan . taken by JAVED NANEEN

wild berries of northern Pakistan

     The people of Gilgit Baltistan believe this plant to be poisonous. They think, its poisonous to pet animals like goats and sheep which go to high altitudes during summers. Once many years back my brother went up to the mountains where he witnessed some pets which eat this plant and got poisoned they felled down, but after half an hours get up, and none of them died, but i personally have never seen any animal feeding on this lush green plant with my own eyes. Also it's fruits are thought to be poisonous for humans too, that's why no one dares to eat it. But there is nothing like any scientific reason or any laboratory test as proof of this belief. This is called  Drungdrushk  in local language, its found at the altitude of  11000ft to 13000ft. its always prohibited to eat, our elder say it contains Poisson so we avoid it. pet animals also do avoid it because this fruit poisons them too.   3rd image is of  Shatoo , its consumable berry fr...
